Jessica Hume, Executive Director
Jess is a former college professor who brings more than 17 years of experience in nonprofit higher education, including several years in leadership roles, for which she was awarded the Women in Leadership Impact Award in 2018. Before leaving academia, Jess led a collaborative group of faculty in executing a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to create the first and only four-year health humanities program in the state of Kentucky. As a teacher, Jess’ deepest passion is helping others articulate their lived stories, and bearing witness to them with authenticity. As an academic, she brings interdisciplinary research experience in poetry, literacy studies, narrative studies, medical & anatomical history, death & dying, anthropology, and public health. As executive director, Jess hopes to bring her interdisciplinary skills to bear in maximizing the potential of the OSPOP and fully exploring its mission to honor our stories and the ways they connect us with one another. One thing you should know about Jess is that she never, ever, ever gives up.

D. Quentin Paquette, BOD Member, Wyncote, PA
D. Quentin Paquette was born in the nation’s capital and spent many hours of his youth enjoying access to the cultural, historical, and technological artifacts of our country. These experiences developed his appreciation of how these objects can be presented in a way that introduces and furthers conversation about where our present understanding came from, as well as inspiring ideas of what the future could be and what our role is in bringing it about.
Quentin has been involved in teaching for his entire adult life. He taught middle and high school science and mathematics while completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago. While in graduate school, he worked as lab instructor in the gross and neuroanatomy labs. The lab instructor role was reprised early in his professional years, where he taught and helped to create and shape instructional content for the initial development of the Marymount University Physical Therapy program. Throughout his professional career he has taught and mentored students and new clinicians in the clinic as well as produced and presented educational content for his peers.
Quentin is an active creative in his personal time. He has had several of his written works published in online journals. He has learned to use some of his grandfather’s woodworking tools with a fraction of the skill. He is working on becoming a better gardener with each growing season. He takes pride in making handmade cards and gifts for his friends and family. What success he has had in these areas lets him imagine he could have been a useful neighbor at the opening of the
20th century and the Post Office.
