Building Restoration

As you may have noticed while reading about our Sustainibility & Growth plan, we’re conceptualizing the project in three phases. The first phase focuses on executing the construction necessary to make the P.O. into a functional, accessible community space.

We’ve come a long way already, but we still have quite a ways to go.

Updates to Phase 1, Summer 2025:

Phase 1 involves several major projects:

Replacing & replairing doors and windows
Cleaning and closing up the old chimney
Cleaning and repainting the OG bead board that was under this 1970s wood paneling
Pulling staples, cleaning, and repainting the OG bead board ceiling
Repairing & replacing siding, and installing insulation
Updates to this entry would include a wheelchair accessible entrance, railings, and a roof over the porch. We would also like to restore the old mail drop box, previously located over the two holes to the right of the door, and the old sign. Around the front porch, a small community garden and little library would welcome v/isitors. A modest security system would be necessary.

The PO doesn’t have electricity, but a generator and solar panels have been donated for installation this summer. It also doesn’t currently have a restroom. This is a significant obstacle. Installation of a water collection system and accessible restroom are an important part of Phase I.
